Pickleball Hub Coming to Victoria’s Topaz Park

City of Victoria Media Release
VICTORIA, BC — Construction kicks off this month on the second phase of improvements to Topaz Park.
The City is adding an 11-court pickleball hub, a new outdoor fitness area, a central gathering space, a misting station and connecting pathways.
“I’m pleased to see the next phase of Topaz Park improvements take shape,” said Mayor Marianne Alto. “These features invite more residents of all ages to explore and enjoy this new active play space in Topaz Park.”
The construction of a new pickleball hub helps meet increasing demand for pickleball facilities in Victoria and supports the City’s Strategic Plan goal to improve recreational sports amenities.
A chat with Victoria Regional Pickleball Association president Roger Graves

Vancouver Island Pickleball, powered by Courtside Sports, spoke with Victoria Regional Pickleball Association (VRPA) president Roger Graves earlier this month. Graves, a Level 2 NCCP instructor in the region and professor emeritus at the University of Alberta takes over from longtime president, Connie McCann.
A former board member at Cordova Bay, Graves’ shared thoughts on his new role with the VRPA, including where the Association fits into the pickleball landscape following the rise of private facilities in the region.
“There’s lots of stuff happening,” said Graves. “The issue becomes, what is the role of the VRPA in all of this?”
